He assumes the stool name Togbe Buami IX.

In his acceptance speech, Togbe Buami IX revealed that he had long been aware of the elders’ intention to select him for the role but had managed to avoid the responsibility for over twelve years. He noted that his father was once considered for the position in the 1950s, and his uncle in the late 1980s, but both declined. “On Saturday, the will of God came through and my elders prevailed upon me just after Morning Mass at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, Ho,” he said, calling for unity and support from the people of Gbi-Bla and the wider Gbi Traditional Area.

Prior to his outdooring, Togbe Buami IX underwent a seven-day confinement, during which he was prepared for the responsibilities of his new role and received assurances of support. He is expected to lead the funeral rites of his predecessor before his formal enstoolment, which will mark the final stage of his installation.

Togbe Buami IX hails from the Buami Clan of the Tsrivi sub-division of Gbi-Bla. Born in 1975 to Mr. Aloysius Kwame Asempah and the late Madam Innocentia Adzoa Soglo, he is 47 years old. He holds a Master of Laws in Human Rights from Staffordshire University, UK; a Common Professional Certificate in Law/Graduate Diploma in Law from Keele University, UK; and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.

A devout Catholic, Togbe Buami IX worships at the Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Ho, where he serves as Parish Finance Committee Chairman. He is a member of the Knights of Marshall Council 20, Ho, and president of the Ho Executive Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI). He is widely recognized for his active involvement in Christian and community initiatives.
